Join Junie B. on her first day of first grade, where many changes are in store: Junie’s best friend Lucille has found new best friends, and Junie B. makes friends with Herb, the new kid at school. While in Mr. Scary’s class, Junie has trouble reading the blackboard, and she may need glasses. Add in a friendly cafeteria lady, an intense kickball tournament, and a “Top-Secret Personal Beeswax Journal,” and first grade has never been more exciting.

From the moment your audition begins until the final curtain call, Rise productions are shaped by our values: respect, integrity, support, and encouragement. All casting decisions are made thoughtfully and communicated clearly. When rehearsals begin, you’ll find that our time together is full of opportunities to try new things, make mistakes, and grow.
Because of the overlapping rehearsal schedules, students ages 13 and 14 will only be allowed to audition for one of the two fall shows. If you have questions about which show is the better fit for your student, please reach out. We would love to help guide you through that decision.

Arianna Cooper
Co-Director
Arianna Cooper is a theatre director and educator with 19 years of experience. She earned a degree in Theatre Performance from West Texas A&M University and a degree in Education from SMU. Over the past decade, Arianna has directed elementary productions including Matilda JR, Frozen JR, Shrek JR, James and the Giant Peach JR, and Newsies JR. For the past five years, Arianna has served as Head Theatre Director at Arapaho Classical Magnet, teaching theatre to students in kindergarten through sixth grade.
Rachel Dresel
Co-Director
Rachel has been an elementary music educator since 2003 and has taught at Arapaho Classical Magnet since 2008. A graduate of Baylor University and a certified Orff-Schulwerk instructor, Rachel has served as music director for productions including Matilda Jr., Frozen Jr., Newsies Jr., among many others. She is passionate about helping young performers grow in confidence and musicianship and is thrilled to be part of the Rise community!
