Training that meets your student where they are.
The Rise Studio is the education program of Rise Theatre Arts, and this fall is our first full semester. Students ages 8 to 19 train in four disciplines across two days: voice and jazz on Tuesday evenings, tap and acting on Saturday middays. Every enrolled student has access to all four.
This is a semester of consistent, structured training with professional instructors who will know your student, know how to encourage their growth, and stay with them from September to December. Every student who registers has a place in the room. No audition is required.

Every student has access to two classes each day, four disciplines a week. Tuesday and Saturday are one enrollment, so every Studio student can attend both days. Your student’s class times depend on which Act they join.
Students are grouped by age and experience.
Great theatre is built through process. Great artists are built over time. The Artist Journey is how Rise describes that growth. Students move forward through six Scenes, gaining experience, skill, and responsibility along the way, and those Scenes are grouped into three Acts. Your Act is your group, your room, and your class times for the semester.
Start with your student’s age. Then move up or down an Act if their experience points somewhere else.
These are starting points, not tests. You will not get it wrong. Students attend the Act they chose in week one, and if our instructors determine that another room is a better fit, we will tell you.

Students in Act I are learning the foundations of theatre, the rhythm of rehearsal, and what it means to be part of a cast of peers.

By grouping students into the Acts of the Rise Artist Journey, we ensure that our instructors can challenge every student in every group appropriately for their capabilities.
We confirm placement in the room, not on paper. Instructors see every student work in week one, and we reach out directly if a move would serve them better. A move costs you nothing, and it never changes your tuition.

Rise exists to create excellent theatre and cultivate exceptional community. In the Studio, we will foster a safe environment for rising to the challenge, making mistakes, and trying again. If students get it right the first time every time, then they’re not being challenged. Our goal is to help them embrace the learning process and guide them toward the joy of growing into new skills within a kind community.
Training builds week to week, so we love having students in the room whenever they can be there. When a week gets away from you, just tell us and we will help your student step right back in.

One payment covers every class offered for the semester, both days, all four disciplines. That works out to roughly 40 hours of instruction, about $13 per hour, across four disciplines with professional instructors.
Sibling pricing is automatic. Need-based financial assistance is available. To request it, email EducationDirector@RiseTheatreArts.org. Asking will never affect your student’s placement or their experience in the room.
There are two ways to pay:
- Pay in full at registration.
- Or choose a payment plan of three payments of $175 each: the first at enrollment, the second on October 1, and the third on November 1.

No classes on these dates:
- Tuesday, October 6 and Saturday, October 10
- Tuesday, November 10 and Saturday, November 14 (Guys and Dolls tech week)
- Tuesday, November 24 and Saturday, November 28 (Thanksgiving)
Every student is invited to perform in the end of semester showcase on Monday, December 7. Ten weeks of work, in front of the people who love them. Venue, time, and ticket details are coming soon.
Frequently asked questions.
Yes. Act I, Discovery, exists for exactly this student. Every journey begins with curiosity. No experience is assumed and none is required.
Start with their age. A 16-year-old beginner belongs with other 16-year-olds, and our instructors are used to meeting a first-timer in an experienced room. If it turns out another Act serves them better, we will say so after week one.
Yes. We group classes into the three Acts of the Rise Artist Journey so that our instructors can challenge each student in each group appropriately. Act III, Impact, is built for students refining their craft, leading by example, and elevating others, and each discipline has its own instructor.
Tuesday and Saturday are a single enrollment rather than two separate tracks, so both days are included in your tuition and every student is welcome in all four classes. We encourage students to be there for both, since the disciplines build on each other across the week. We also know some weeks will not work out, and students are welcome to come to what they can.
Two class hours, back to back, on each of the two days. No gaps and no waiting between classes. Class times are listed by Act above, so you can plan your week before you register.
Tap and jazz shoes if your student already has them. If not, athletic shoes are a fine place to start, and the instructor will offer guidance on the best option going forward. For voice, bring tracks and sheet music. Every student should bring a water bottle, something to take notes with, and a small snack if they would like one between classes.
Come to the next one. Tell us what you missed and we will help your student step right back in.
The Studio and our productions are separate. Enrolling in the Studio is not a step toward casting, and casting decisions are made only through each production's audition process. Studio students are welcome to audition, and many will. A semester of training tends to leave a student more prepared and more confident whenever they choose to step into an audition room.
